Massachusetts adult-use limits
The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) says adults must be 21 or older to buy or grow adult-use cannabis. It lists up to 2 ounces carried and up to 10 ounces at home. More than 2 ounces stored at home must be locked. Check the CCC Know the Laws page for current requirements.

Public use and local on-site venues
CCC guidance says cannabis use in public is restricted. New regulations took effect January 2, 2026, but the CCC's current Frequently Asked Questions says applications for Social Consumption Establishment licenses are not yet available. Municipalities must also opt in before an establishment can operate locally. Do not assume an on-site venue is currently open; check current Commission and municipality status.
Home, vehicle, and travel boundaries
CCC says cannabis must be in a closed container in the vehicle passenger area, driving under the influence is illegal, and cannabis may not be transported outside Massachusetts. Local rules, landlord policies, and federal restrictions can also matter. See U.S. cannabis-law basics.
